Petzl GULLY – Ultra-Light Ice Axe for Technical Mountaineering
The Petzl GULLY is a compact and exceptionally lightweight ice axe for technical mountaineering and steep skiing. With a length of 45 cm and a weight of only 280 g, it is designed for demanding objectives where low weight, precise placements and compact dimensions are essential.
The GULLY is available with either an adze or a hammer. Both versions feature a curved steel pick, a lightweight aluminum shaft and the tool-free adjustable TRIGREST handrest.
Precise Pick for Hard Ice
The re-curved steel pick tapers to 3 mm at the tip. This construction provides precise placements in hard ice and facilitates controlled removal.
The curved shaft supports an efficient hand position in steep terrain. The TRIGREST handrest can be repositioned quickly without tools, allowing the position of the hand or index finger to be adapted to the terrain.
Optional Petzl pick weights can be added to improve swing and anchoring performance in very hard ice.
Adze or Hammer
The U014AA00 version features a compact adze for clearing or cleaning steps and holds.
The U014BA00 version is equipped with a minimalist hammer for applications where pitons need to be placed.
Both versions have the same 45 cm shaft length and weigh 280 g. The appropriate version should therefore be selected according to the intended route and the protection equipment being carried.
Compact and Easy to Carry
Its short construction makes the GULLY easy to carry on or inside a pack. The beveled spike helps prevent damage to the pack during transport.
A hole in the pick allows a carabiner to be attached or the ice axe to be integrated into a compatible loss-prevention system.

The Petzl GULLY combines the weight of a compact ski-mountaineering axe with features designed for more technical terrain. Its main strengths are steep mountaineering routes, demanding ski objectives and situations where a precise but exceptionally lightweight ice axe is required.
The adze is the more versatile option for classic mountaineering and steep snow. The hammer version is particularly useful on routes where pitons may need to be placed.
