Petzl ROLLCLIP A TRIACT-LOCK – Carabiner with Integrated Pulley
The Petzl ROLLCLIP A TRIACT-LOCK combines an auto-locking carabiner with an efficient integrated pulley. Its compact construction is designed for redirects, haul systems and short rope ascents where a connector and pulley are required as one functional unit.
The gate opens on the pulley side, making it easier to install the rope while the ROLLCLIP A is already attached to an anchor point. The automatic TRIACT-LOCK system locks by itself and requires three consecutive actions to open.
Construction and Performance
The 18 mm sheave runs on a sealed ball bearing and provides an efficiency of 85%. The ROLLCLIP A is compatible with ropes from 7 to 13 mm in diameter and weighs 115 g in the TRIACT-LOCK version.
The aluminum carabiner's H-shaped frame provides an effective balance between strength and weight while protecting the product markings against abrasion. Its Keylock system helps prevent the carabiner from snagging during installation.
The ROLLCLIP A is compatible with the Petzl CAPTIV positioning bar. CAPTIV keeps the carabiner correctly positioned, promotes loading along its major axis and helps prevent unwanted rotation.
Applications
Petzl identifies two typical applications. Attached to the lower connection hole of an ASCENSION handled rope clamp, the ROLLCLIP A can act as a redirect during short rope ascents. Combined with a RESCUCENDER rope clamp, it can be used as a redirect in a haul system.
Further applications include professional rope access, technical rescue systems and comparable situations where a compact pulley carabiner is required.
ROLLCLIP A or ROLLCLIP Z?
On the ROLLCLIP A, the gate opens on the pulley side. This configuration makes it easier to install the rope when the carabiner is already attached to an anchor point.
On the ROLLCLIP Z, the gate opens on the side opposite the pulley, making it easier to connect the carabiner to anchors and devices. The correct version should therefore be selected according to the required gate orientation rather than the locking system alone.
