Description

Blue Ice Choucas Pro Folkstone – Technical Mountaineering and Ice Climbing Harness

The Blue Ice Choucas Pro is an ultralight and compact harness designed for demanding mountaineering, technical alpine routes and ice climbing. Depending on the size, it weighs only 131 to 163 g while combining a minimalist pack size with a comprehensive range of alpine equipment features.

Its breathable waist belt and leg loops use a lightweight mesh construction. High-strength UHMW polyethylene, high-tenacity polyester and aircraft-grade aluminum buckles provide an effective balance between low weight and durability.

Four Gear Loops for Technical Routes

The Choucas Pro features four large gear loops. Two are semi-molded to make clipping and removing carabiners and other equipment easier while maintaining the harness’s compact construction.

Four attachment slots for ice clippers are positioned on the waist belt. Additional elastic retainers on both leg loops help stabilize ice screws and reduce movement while walking.

A rear attachment loop is provided for a tagline.

Fully Openable Leg Loops

The patented leg-loop opening system allows the harness to be put on without stepping through closed loops. This is particularly useful when you are already wearing skis or crampons.

The special buckles are designed for easy operation while wearing gloves. Hot-forged speed buckles and tubular belt webbing allow quick and secure adjustment.

Reinforced Tie-in Points

The high-wear tie-in points are reinforced for increased resistance to abrasion and friction. This makes the Choucas Pro suitable for regular use on technical alpine and rocky terrain.

Choosing the Correct Size

Measure your waist and legs over the clothing you normally wear on your tours. If the harness is primarily intended for winter use, remember to include your insulating layers.

Size	Waist	Leg	Weight
XS	63–76 cm	44–51 cm	131 g
S	68–81 cm	48–55 cm	143 g
M	74–87 cm	52–59 cm	145 g
L	81–94 cm	57–64 cm	154 g
XL	89–97 cm	63–70 cm	163 g

Our Assessment

The Blue Ice Choucas Pro is designed for alpinists who want to minimize weight without giving up multiple gear loops and dedicated attachment options for ice-climbing equipment.

Its fully openable, glove-friendly leg loops make it particularly suitable for combined mountaineering, ski and ice routes. For prolonged hanging or conventional sport climbing, a more heavily padded harness will generally provide greater comfort.
