EDELRID Via Ferrata Belay Kit II – controlled belaying on via ferratas
The EDELRID Via Ferrata Belay Kit II is designed to provide additional rope protection for children, beginners and less experienced climbers on steep or technically demanding sections of a via ferrata. The complete system combines a belay plate with an automatic backstop and a dynamic climbing rope with sewn terminations.
The differently coloured rope ends make them easier to distinguish and support clear, organised handling. The complete via ferrata belay system comes in a practical storage bag that also provides guidance on correct use.
Two rope lengths for different requirements
The Via Ferrata Belay Kit II is available in two versions:
-
15 m: compact version weighing 1,000 g
-
25 m: longer version with additional rope reserve, weighing 1,500 g
The appropriate version depends on the planned route, the distance between suitable anchor points and the required belaying distance.

Important safety information
The Via Ferrata Belay Kit II is intended exclusively for belaying a second climber. It must not be used to belay a lead climber or for traverses. Slack rope must be avoided and the braking rope must be held securely with the full braking hand at all times.
The system may only be used by trained and experienced individuals or under appropriate professional instruction and supervision. Before first use, the complete instructions must be read and understood, and users should familiarise themselves with the system in a safe environment.
This additional belay system complements personal via ferrata equipment and does not replace a certified via ferrata lanyard.
