Ocun Ozone – Precise Performance Climbing Shoes
The Ocun Ozone is a technical performance climbing shoe designed for micro edges, small footholds and pockets. Its pronounced asymmetric last, patented 3 Force System and three-dimensionally shaped midsole support precise power transfer towards the front of the shoe.
The Ozone is particularly suitable for demanding sport climbing and technical boulder problems. Ocun also lists outdoor rock, indoor climbing and multi-pitch routes among its applications.
Asymmetrix Last for Precise Footwork
The Asymmetrix last combines pronounced asymmetry with a slight downturn. This directs power towards the toe of the shoe.
The construction supports controlled placement on small edges and narrow footholds. Its precisely shaped toe also helps when using small pockets and holes in the rock.
Patented 3 Force System
The patented 3 Force System distributes pressure around the forefoot and increases torsional stiffness. This helps keep the shoe stable under lateral load and supports efficient power transfer towards the toes.
The system is particularly effective on micro edges and technical moves where the foot needs to be loaded with control.
3D Fit Middle Midsole
The three-dimensionally shaped 3D Fit Middle midsole supports the toes and optimizes power transfer towards the front of the shoe. Together with the Asymmetrix last and 3 Force System, it forms the Ozone’s performance-oriented platform.
The 4 mm Vibram rubber sole complements this construction and provides the support required for precise foot placement.
Rubberized Toe Patch and Precise Heel
The rubberized toe area increases the usable friction surface for toe hooks and technical bouldering moves.
The precisely shaped, seamless heel provides a close fit and helps reduce pressure points during extended climbing or training sessions.
Upper and Closure
The upper is made from microfiber. A hook-and-loop closure allows quick adjustment and makes the shoes easy to remove between attempts.
According to Ocun, the Ozone is made without animal-based materials. The climbing shoes are handcrafted in the Czech Republic.
Fit and Toe Shape
Ocun recommends the Ozone for regular-width feet with a Greek toe shape. With this foot shape, the second toe is approximately as long as or longer than the big toe.
Climbers with a wider forefoot or higher instep should compare the Ozone HV. Its Asymmetrix Plus last provides additional volume around the forefoot.
Sizing
According to Ocun, most climbers choose the Ozone in the same size as their regular street or sports shoes. For a tighter performance fit, the manufacturer recommends going half to one UK size smaller.
The correct size also depends on foot width, toe shape and preferred tension. Trying the shoes on is therefore particularly useful with a precisely fitting performance model.
Ozone or Ozone HV?
The regular Ozone uses the Asymmetrix last and is designed for regular-width feet. It provides a closer and more precise fit than the high-volume version.
The Ozone HV uses the wider Asymmetrix Plus last and is intended for wider feet and higher insteps. The choice should therefore be based primarily on foot volume rather than shoe size alone.
Our Assessment
The Ocun Ozone is a strong choice for ambitious climbers seeking maximum precision on small footholds, micro edges and pockets. Its 3 Force System and pronounced asymmetry make it particularly suitable for technical sport climbing and edge-focused boulder problems.
For wider feet, the Ozone HV will generally be the better choice. For regular-width feet with a Greek toe shape, the standard Ozone can provide a significantly more precise fit.
