Edelrid Boa 9.8 mm – Versatile Single Rope for Sport Climbing

The Edelrid Boa 9.8 mm is a robust and versatile single rope for sport climbing on rock and at indoor climbing walls. Its balanced diameter combines pleasant handling with a construction designed for regular use.

With a weight of 62 g per meter, the Boa is not an extreme lightweight rope. Instead, it provides an effective balance between handling, weight and durability, making it a practical choice for climbers looking for an uncomplicated all-round climbing rope.

Pleasant Handling with Thermo Shield

The Thermo Shield treatment uses a thermal process to align the core and sheath yarns. This gives the rope its characteristic Edelrid suppleness and supports comfortable handling when belaying, clipping, tying knots and coiling the rope.

Thermo Shield is a thermal finishing process rather than a water-repellent Dry treatment. A suitably treated Dry rope is therefore the better choice for regular use in wet conditions, snow or ice.

Ready to Use with 3D Lap Coil

The special 3D Lap Coil technique eliminates the need to uncoil the new rope before its first use. It can be pulled directly from the packaging without the twisting and tangling commonly caused by incorrectly unrolling a new rope.

A middle marking identifies the center of the rope and helps with rope management, lowering and rappelling preparation.

Colors and Lengths

The Edelrid Boa 9.8 mm is available in Red and Blue. Both colors are offered in lengths of 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 and 200 m.

Choose the length according to the intended application:

40 m for suitably short routes and many indoor applications
50 or 60 m for classic sport-climbing routes
70 or 80 m for longer climbing routes
200 m when a large continuous rope length is required

Always verify that the rope is sufficiently long for the intended route. Lowering generally requires at least twice the route length plus an adequate safety reserve.
