TAZ LOV3 – Fall Arrest and Descender Device
The TAZ LOV3 is a multifunctional rope device for professional work at height and rescue applications. It combines a fall arrest device, descender, rope clamp and rescue device in one compact construction. These functions remain available not only on normal vertical ropes but also on tensioned and diagonal ropes.
Combined with the separately available TAZ LOVROPE, the device becomes the LOV3+ and can additionally be used as an adjustable work-positioning lanyard.
Four Device Functions in One System
Depending on the certified system configuration, the LOV3 can function as:

This allows the device to be integrated into rope access, ascent and descent, rescue systems and suitable haul systems requiring a progress-capture function.
Operation on Tensioned and Diagonal Ropes
A distinguishing feature of the LOV3 is its ability to operate on tensioned and diagonal ropes. This extends its possible applications in professional rope systems and rescue situations where a purely vertical rope path is insufficient.
The LOV3 is not a bidirectional descender and does not allow arbitrary descent in both rope directions. It should therefore not be marketed using these descriptions.
Captive Rope Installation
The movable side plate can be opened while the LOV3 remains connected to the carabiner. The device can therefore be installed on or removed from the rope without first disconnecting it from the connector. This captive construction reduces the risk of dropping the device during rope installation.
Rope Compatibility and Certifications
For use according to EN 12841 types A, B and C, the LOV3 is certified for 10–11 mm EN 1891 type A ropes and a maximum nominal load of 120 kg.
According to EN 15151-1, it can be used with 10–11 mm EN 1891 type A ropes and 9.5–10.5 mm EN 892 dynamic single ropes. These ranges should not be combined into one general rope diameter specification.
The EN 341 type 2 class C certification applies exclusively with the 10.5 mm Cousin T1425 EN 1891 rope. This configuration has a load range of 30–100 kg and a maximum descent height of 100 m.
EN 358 applies only to the complete LOV3+ system consisting of the LOV3 and LOVROPE. The individual LOV3 also meets relevant EN 353-2 requirements, except for automatic downward following. It must therefore not be described as fully certified to EN 353-2.
Construction
Made in France, the device is constructed from aluminum, stainless steel and polyamide. It measures 15 × 8 × 4 cm and weighs 380 g. TAZ officially offers the LOV3 in Red, Cyan, Black and Purple.

Its certifications apply only within their specified system configurations. Rope type, diameter, load range and additional equipment must always correspond to the intended application.
